It was the night before the film started shooting. One of the young actors said to me "What do you think I should do with my voice for this character...?"

My answer was “It takes time to create a character and to exist inside your new behaviour and habits”.

The director Nadine Labaki said about her film CAPHERNAUM (2018),

“If someone asked me what my recipe for this movie was, I would say it was time”

EXERCISE

Yip! It takes time to change. Try this exercise:

Fold your arms — right now!

Now fold them the other way. Don't think about it, just do it...

Feels weird, right?

That is a habit, right there. It does not really matter which way you fold your arms, you have just become accustomed to doing it that first way. How long would it take you to get accustomed to doing it organically, the other way?
