I think a scene should never end the way it began. If there is no change in the scene, why is it on the screen?
A film, a TV episode or a play reflects the unpredictability of real life.
Who would have thought that Simone Biles would drop out of the Olympics this year? Who would have predicted the pandemic? Who can predict how your next audition will go?
Of course, after the fact, these things may all seem obvious and entirely predictable. That is also the sign of good drama — surprising, but also inevitable.
