Here is where verbatim text meets great advertising.
I am so proud to be an Ambassador for the New Zealand Women's Refuge. Our 2024 Women's Refuge Winter appeal has just been launched in New Zealand. It is my experience in creating drama with violent offenders in service of social justice that has given me a deep interest in helping Women's Refuge to break the cycle of violence... and raise money to help New Zealanders find the safety and comfort that every family deserves.
It's so exciting that this year the campaign is centred around a verbatim approach, inviting donors to engage with the stories of the refuge. New Zealand actors eagerly contributed these performances. You can see the actors below and listen to all their beautiful performances on the site. Here is one, Kelly's Story, read by Anapela Polataivao.
As I say in at the end of this news item about the campaign, New Zealanders cherish the work of Women's Refuge. It is very confronting to live in a small country with a big domestic abuse problem. New Zealanders respond by donating each year to keep the refuge going, while dreaming of the day it might no longer be needed.
